Josh Griffin had a post on advertising youth ministry and it got me thinking about the subject. There are lot things that you can do to get the word out about your youth ministry. I think the sky is the limit when it comes to ways to advertise, but we have a few regulars that we use.
1. postcards - to every family in the church that has ever visited w/ students
2. invite cards (personal invitation is the #1 way to get the word out)
3. emails (we use an online program called constant contact)
4. youtube - posting a promo video that students can send to their friends (example here)
5. promote your events on myspace and facebook that is where students are (example here and here)
When it comes to promoting a bigger event here are a few EXTRA things we usually do.
1. phone campaign (call the students that have not been around to hear what’s coming up)
2. t-shirts - students wear to school to promote (example here)
3. buttons - students wear to school to promote (order them here)

Do you have any suggestions on ways to get the word out about your ministry to those who are not a part of your church?
Studentministry101.com
Some of the ones listed int the post I find to be effective are:
1. invite cards - a promotional piece that your church student can hand out to his friends.
2. youtube - posting a promo video that students can send to their friends
3. t-shirts - have all your students wear them on the same day. Great conversation starter. "I see everyone wearing these shirts what are they for?"
Hope that helps.
